Re: Olivia Newton-John mini-series thread

It also happens to be Mother's Day when traditionally people prefer to spend more time with their family than watch TV.
The first episode will be up against tough competition: the final of Eurovision Song Contest on SBS, MasterChef Australia / Roseanne on Ten and The Voice / 60 Minutes on Nine.
Hah, really? I think you're overstating it a bit there. It may be Mother's Day, but it's also a Sunday just after school holidays - most people will be home and will be watching TV.  Seven probably thinks 'Olivia' will appeal more to the older female demographic.
Roseanne won't be much competition because Channel Ten has been slow in getting it to air here, so those most keen for its return will have already seen it online. Its most recent ratings weren't good.
MasterChef and Eurovision are probably the biggest competitors, although I think MasterChef is probably the biggest.
And we knew Seven would schedule it against The Voice/60 Minutes - there'll be competition, but no tougher than usual.

I wonder if they'll try to get it to air in the states somewhere.  Olivia is so popular here.  I could see it airing on Lifetime or E!.

Given it's a 2 part mini-series, I'm assuming Part 2 will air either the next day (Monday 14th) or the next Sunday. Yet to be confirmed, though.

Part 2 has not been scheduled for Monday May 14 according to the guides in TV Week out today. It probably means part 2 will be shown on Sunday May 20 up against the first live show of The Voice for 2018.
TV Week has a four page article plus a short review of the mini-series. Look for singer Jessica Mauboy on the cover.

Given the atrocious House Rules lead in with just 686k, and it's direct competition 60mins with 872k, it held up well. It was 2nd in its timeslot and it hit the front foot at 9:30pm.

It mightn't have been the runaway success everyone wanted, but it's certainly not the disastrous flop the haters were hoping for
