Nine won the night comfortably with rises for The Block and Seachange from last week.
10’s Pilot Week continued last night with comedy Part Time Private Eyes, created by Heidi Arena and Nicola Parry. It attracted overwhelmingly positive feedback on social media and had a massive lead-in from Australian Survivor, but could only manage 344,000 and came a distant third in the timeslot.
Seven continued its struggle on Tuesday nights with Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly and The Proposal slipping further.

Seven won the night thanks to the multichannels.
Most of post-7.30pm returned to their audience levels from two weeks ago when there was no cricket, apart from The Chase which continued to drop.
The third program of 10's Pilot Week, I am Roxy (a documentary on the personal life of Sydney PR Roxy Jacenko), pulled just under 400,000 viewers and generated a mixed bag of reviews on social media. My Life is Murder, which was bumped to 9.20pm to make way for I am Roxy, fell to a season low as the result.

Nine won the night with its coverage of the fifth Ashes test, but its network share was not big as previous weeks without live NRL.
10 had a great night, with The Bachelor’s hometown visit episode and Gogglebox dominating in the major demographics. The two shows helped 10’s primary share to increase by 4.2% from last week.

Seven won a highly competitive night with Geelong’s victory over reigning premiers West Coast in the AFL semi-final outrating the NRL qualifying final and Ashes cricket.
The fourth and final show of 10’s Pilot Week, My 80 Year Old Flatmate, had 1,000 less viewers than Sydney’s Crazy Rich Asians.

Seven won the night thanks to the thrilling AFL semi final between the Lions and the Giants. The match attracted the second biggest AFL FTA audience in Brisbane but was edged out by live NRL. The match rated very poorly in Sydney despite a local team playing.
Nine News ratings was drastically affected due to an early start in the east coast to accommodate NRL finals coverage. The twilight NRL final between the Storm and the Raiders lost to Seven News and AFL pre-match in Melbourne.
The cricket audience suffered a big drop from Friday as England dominated all day.

The powerful combination of The Block and Ashes cricket had done it again, giving Nine another audience share of over 40%. Just under 600,000 metro viewers saw the first session of the fifth and final Ashes test on 9Gem, as Australia embarked on what turned out to be futile run chase, as England won the test to draw the series 2-2.
AGT dropped to another season low, just one week out of the grand final.

Nine might have won the night but it really belonged to 10, with the penultimate episode of Australian Survivor posting the show’s biggest audience since 10 picked up the rights to the franchise, and HYBPA hitting a season high and the show’s biggest audience since July 2018. Survivor and HYBPA was first and second in the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.
Apart from The Block, most primetime shows increased their audiences from last week.

Actress Pia Miranda’s win in Australian Survivor generated a massive audience for 10, but could not prevent Nine from winning the night. Last night’s Survivor finale was the biggest audience in the franchise’s four-year history on 10, but the winner announcement was slightly lower than the 1.08 million for the 2016 edition. The Survivor grand final winner announcement and final episode also topped the key advertising demographics – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s – taking the top two spots in all three, followed by The Block.
Seachange and Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds both took a hit against Survivor, while Seven struggled again with no program pulling over 500,000 viewers after 7.30pm.

The Bachelor finale delivered 10 its biggest audience share of 2019, and a clear win in primary shares – 10’s primary share was a bit higher than the corresponding night last year (22.1%) and was 5.9% ahead of second-placed Seven. However Seven won in network shares thanks to multichannels.
The Bachelor final decision (in which astrophysicist Matt Agnew chose chemical engineer Chelsie McLeod to be his love) was lower than last year’s 1.24 million.
