After a five-year absence, The Amazing Race Australia returned with solid ratings last night. The fourth season of the adventure travel competition show, now hosted by Beau Ryan, premiered to 635,000 viewers, second in total audience and demos behind The Block, but higher than 588,000 for the season three launch on Seven in 2014.
After two weeks in the 900,000s, HYBPA dropped back to 816,000, but still won its timeslot easily.

Nine easily won the night thanks to The Block and Love Island.
Big fall for The Amazing Race as expected, but it still did quite well in the demos (only 19,000 behind The Block in 16-39). One Born Every Minute was steady from last Tuesday as was 10’s network share.
Seven’s share improved somewhat thanks mainly to Bride & Prejudice.

While Nine won the night yet again, it was not all good news, with Today hitting a new 2019 low of just 163,000 viewers.
The Bachelorette hit a new season low despite an explosive cocktail party and Angie sending a bachelor home. Playing for Keeps edged up from last week.

Seven won the night thanks to Home and Away and a special Thursday episode of The Good Doctor.
The Bachelorette posted its best audience for three weeks while Trial by Kyle and Love Island were lower than last week.

Seven won the night despite low ratings for the repeat of telemovie Catching Milat, which was a late inclusion following the death of murderer Ivan Milat on Sunday.

It was a big day of sport for 10 yesterday: the return of Melbourne Cup Carnival to 10 after an 18-year absence, as well as the final of Rugby World Cup. While the rugby attracted a big audience last night, Derby Day just beat Sydney’s Golden Eagle on Seven and lost to the latter in regional areas.
Seven narrowly won the night in primary and network shares.
