Seven won the night thanks to the extended season finale of Home and Away and the second repeat screening of romcom Love Actually in a month.
Nine's primetime share was hurt by the early but thrilling finish to the day/night test in Brisbane in which Pakistan scored 450 runs in its second innings but lost to Australia by 39 runs. Its replacement RBT pulled 662,000 while Mission Impossible III achieved 329,000 viewers in the same time slot.
The fasttracked premiere of Jamie's Oliver Christmas did well in younger demos while the original Die Hard movie also lifted Ten's share.

First Dates UK, Simply Nigella and Rick Stein all dropped against cricket opposition.

Ratings are down two days out of Christmas, but the BBL doubleheader helped Ten to win the night.

Carols by Candlelight was the standout program of the night but its audience was down 150,000 on 2015 (based on timeshifted figures). Nevertheless Nine had a massive win.
